#78 The Great Ideas

Hello, friends.

Last week this time, my family and I were prepping our family place in Atlantic Beach for Dorian. We’re very thankful our damage was minimal this time and pray and send support for the folks in the Bahamas who are still devastated.

What I’m Learning/Doing

We’ve been working on a naming project for a client and as we’ve matured, our trend is to share our early sketches and ideas. And most of them are bad. Early on, we’d wait until we had what we thought were polished options. Why? Because we were afraid of looking foolish.

In the end, no one remembers your bad ideas. They’ll remember your one great one. Share ideas early. The bad ones give birth to the good ones.

Speaking of naming things… Here are my five new name “musts”:

  1. decide if it’s going to be trendy or not
  2. be findable
  3. be memorable
  4. be differentiated
  5. be connected to services and products

Changelog

Honestly: We have more NC based clients than ever before. It’s funny how it runs in cycles between B2B and B2C as well as local vs. out of state. Seasons.

LOFT: Had our best sales activity week so far which led to 8 new opportunities. We’re also launching a new LOFT website this coming week.

CrewPay: Released a new payments page this week and had a table at New Ventures Demo Day.

Pttrns: Researching moving Pttrns to a Ruby framework. The web application is pretty old and maintenance is a constant challenge.

Until next time.
